Axiom Space, a new
privately funded space company is planning to send private astronauts and space
tourists to the International Space Station. These missions are set to happen
in the upcoming 2 years.
Axiom Space was founded in 2016. It has its headquarters in Houston, Texas. They have about 110 employees.
They are planning to have a commercial space station in orbit. The employees of this organization have people who have previously worked in the International Space Station.
The CEO
of Axiom Space has already worked as a Program Manager for ISS.
What will they do?
NASA has selected
Axiom Space for sending its first commercial Module to the International Space
Station.
Axiom Space was also
awarded a contract of 140 million dollars to develop a liveable habitat
Axiom Space plans to
send 3 modules to the International Space Station. After the retirement of ISS,
these modules will become a separate Space Station.
Axiom will also help in filming a movie with Tom Cruise aboard the ISS.

Axiom Modules
Axiom plans to launch 4 modules into the International Space Station.
The 1st Module has an observation cupola that gives the astronauts a spectacular view of our planet.
The 2nd Module is the Habitation Module which will be used as accommodation for the tourists. This module has windows and a small television.
The 3rd Module is the research module used to conduct experiments.
The 4th Module is the Thermal and power module. It has a folded tower that consists of solar panels necessary to provide power to the habitat. It will also combine some older modules from the ISS.
When ISS retires
in 2030, these new modules will detach from the ISS and becomes a fully
operational commercial space station.

Axiom has already
planned to launch 4 private missions to ISS. They are
Axiom Mission 1
This mission will happen in January 2022. Four astronauts are selected to stay 8 days in Space. The four members are Michael Lopez Alegria, Larry Connor, Mark Patty, and Eyton Stibbe.
They will train with NASA and SpaceX for this launch. Axiom will help
NASA by returning scientific samples
Axiom Mission 2
This mission will
launch in the fall of 2022. It also has four people. One member of this team
will be selected from the reality TV show “Who wants to be an astronaut” by
Discovery Channel
Axiom Mission 3
This mission is
scheduled to launch in 2023. All of these astronauts are space tourists
Axiom Mission 4
This is also a 4-person trip to space. One of these members will be the winner of the Space Hero Show.
This”
Space Hero” show will air in 2023. The winner gets to go to the International
Space Station.
Conclusion
The funding for this Space
Agency is from NASA and some other private organizations. This company will develop
a new normal for Tourism. Some other similar start-ups are Orion Span and
