Blue Origin announces 19th mission with Laura Shepherd Churchley and Michael Strahan

            Blue Origin has previously flown two crewed suborbital flights and has announced the crew for their third new Shepherd launch. Previously Jeff Bezos and his brother flew on the first mission; On the second mission the famous Star Trek actor William Shatner went to space 

            This third crewed mission(New Shepherds 19th mission) will be the first to carry a total of 6 astronauts.

            Blue Origin announced the launch of this crewed mission will take place on December 9th at 15:00 UTC from Launch Site One in Texas

            There are six crew members; 4 paying customers and 2 honorary guests 

            The 2 honorary guests include Good Morning America co-anchor Michael Strahan and Alan Shepard's Daughter Laura Shepard Churchley. 

            The other 4 paying customers include space industry executive Dylan Taylor, investor Evan Dick, Founder of Bess Ventures Lane Bess, and Cameron Bess. Lane and Cameron Bess are going to become the first father-son pair to go to space.

Who is Laura Shepard Churchley?

            Laura is the eldest daughter of Alan Shepard, who is the first American to go to space and the fifth person to walk on the moon. Laura is now the chairman of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Board of Trustees. This Foundation raises funds for students who want to pursue careers and Research in the STEM field.

Who is this Michael Strahan?

            Michael Strahan is the co-anchor of ABC's 'Good morning America' and a host of the game show '$100,000 Pyramid'. He is also a two-time Emmy award winner, Super Bowl champion, and Peabody award-winning journalist. Michael Strahan is supposed to receive a stipend which he intended to donate to The Boys & Girls Club.

Who is Dylan Taylor?

            Dylan Taylor is the chief executive and the chairman of Voyager space, a space exploration firm. He is also the founder of a non-profit 'Space for Humanity' which aims to make space accessible to everyone.

Who is Evan Dick?

            Evan Dick is an investor and member of Dick Holdings, LLC. He is also a philanthropic supporter of Population Relief International Corp and Darwin Foundation. He is a devoted sailor, motorcyclist, ATP-rated pilot, and a volunteer for Starfighters Aerospace.

Who is Lane Bess?

            Lane Bess is the founder and principal of Bess Ventures. He started two cyber security companies. They are Zscaler (NASDQ) and Palo Alto Networks (NYSE). He also supports a lot of philanthropic interests like health and social items

Who is Cameron Bess?

            Cameron Bess is the son of Lane Bess and identifies himself as a pansexual. He studied Game Design and Computer Science at DigiPen Institute for Technology in Washington. He is a content creator and has an engaging community on multiple social media platforms. Cameron Bess will be the first content creator to go to space.
