Genesis: Starlax Aerospace aims to go to orbit using its new rocket
During the early years of space flight, only Government companies could have access to space.
Then in the early 2000s private companies started to develop and tests rockets thus enabling space accessible to everyone.
The goal of private rocket companies is to reduce the cost of space flight.
A lot of private space companies from India have also begun their venture into space.
Among them, there is one specific company called Starlax aerospace. This company has its base in Chennai, India. They have unveiled their new rocket called Genesis. Let's take a look at how Genesis works.
Genesis Rocket
Genesis is the first rocket from Starlax Aerospace. Genesis is a small lift launch vehicle capable of sending Nanosatellites to orbit.
Payload capacity
This rocket can send up to
1)950 kgs to low Earth orbit(LEO)
2)800 kgs to Sun-synchronous Orbit(SSO).
This makes it the ideal launch vehicle for nano and microsatellites.
Stages
Unlike other small lift launch vehicles which usually have two stages, this rocket has about three stages.
Launchpad
As of now, Starlax Aerospace has not given any information about its launchpad.
As it is a small lift launch vehicle, most probably there would be a mobile launchpad.
Size
This rocket is about 28.5 meters(93.5 feet) tall, much taller than Rocketlab's Electron.
Reusability
The first stage of this rocket is completely reusable.
They seem to have grid fins on top, so it would most probably land like a Falcon 9.
Stages and Propellants
1)The first stage of this rocket has 7 comet engines
Fuel: Rp1 and liquid oxygen
2)The second stage of this rocket has a single vacuum oriented comet engine
Fuel: Rp1 and liquid oxygen
3)The third stage of this rocket has a kick stage called Pluto, which is used to deliver satellites to their specific orbits
Conclusion
The space industry is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world, and with that rises the demand to launch satellites into orbit.
The Government of India is encouraging private space companies to collaborate with the Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO).
This opens a new era of space flight in India.
That said, Starlax Aerospace will be one of the most inevitable rocket companies in the future.
